Saturday 30th August // 7pm // All-ages

Lincoln le Fevre & the Insiders are proud to announce that Poison City Records will be reissuing their 2008 debut album 30-Watt Heart as a vinyl release later in 2014.

To celebrate its rerelease, the band will be playing a series of shows around the country throughout August and September.

Long before Resonation and longer before relocating to Melbourne, 30-Watt Heart was self-produced by Lincoln le Fevre & the Insiders at home during a freezing winter, just south of Hobart. It was the first hint of le Fevre’s unique brand of county-tinted stories told with a fire burning in the guts.

You’ve heard these stories played live. Now’s your chance to grab it on record.

BLACKWIRE RECORDS, Sydney, with the Sugarcanes (feat. Lucy Wilson) and Isaac Graham.

Seahorse Divorce (Bris/7″ Launch) / TV Programmes / Hot Girls / Burlap / 09.08.14

Saturday 9th August // 7pm // All-ages

Having released and toured their debut album followed by a short run of New Zealand dates in 2013, Seahorse Divorce have returned to their pure white jam cave to resume writing. Music critics and psychotherapists worldwide have praised their faceless brand of easily digestible radio rock, the kind that can be sold to bland and empty people unable to fully commit to more sincere and creative music forms. Such unremarkable music has provided millions worldwide with an easily graspable sense of identity in a world they feel is increasingly going over their heads. With Seahorse Divorce, who needs character?

After recording two songs late last year for a split with Newcastle’s now defunct Summer Policy, after too much time umming and ahhing, the fruit-fusion quintet have finally released the resulting product, a two-track 45 single, the Hessian Transgression / Horses for Discourses 7”. In August they will play a short burst of shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide to release it. Having since re-entered the studio to record even newer songs for an upcoming EP, the shows will be filled with lots of fresh groove numbers written since this belatedly new 7” release. Compete with your friends to create unique dances in even less familiar time signatures!

Joining us at Sydney’s Black Wire Records (AA) will be TV Programmes , Burlap, and a newly reformed Hot Girls (Newcastle).

The Bennies (Melb) / Morning Glory (USA) / Cap A Capo / Chaz H. Scally / 20.09.14

Posted in Performance, Posters/Flyers with tags , , , , , on August 3, 2014 by blackwiretocommonground

Saturday 20th September // 3pm // All-ages

The past 12 months has seen local party favourites the Bennies cement themselves as one of the country’s hardest working live acts. In the wake of their sophomore album, the Bennies have appeared at Soundwave Festival, completed two tours of China, and announced an upcoming United States tour including a slot at Gainsv…ille’s ‘The Fest’. But The Bennies certainly aren’t taking the keys out of the tour van in the near future. Their relentless touring continues with the announcement of another national tour covering the entire east coast with the addition of two intimate shows in Adelaide. Joining The Bennies on the road will be a Fat Wreck’s Morning Glory.

Morning Glory, formed by Ezra Kire (Leftover Crack and Choking Victim), are a group of New York City musicians brought together by their love of making music fun for themselves again. With roots deep in the politi-kil punk scene of the Lower East Side and Brooklyn, Morning Glory’s lyrical content never strays far from the things they see as axiom, although it tends to be more personal than other bands and projects they’ve been in over the years. Having gone on to join the Fat Wreck Chords family, Morning Glory are now embarking on their first ever Australian tour playing an extensive run of shows with local favourites The Bennies.

International men & women of inactivity (well, they’ve no doubt been doing things…just not this thing) grace us again with their very welcome presence.

“…an abundance of intricate subtleties, referencing both the post-punk and no-wave without getting tied down in nostalgia or trend. It’s personal and visceral, and blatantly world class.”
