It’s Amelia’s birthday! It’s Friday! It’s Corpus! It’s Hannahband! It’s Hockey Choir!
“Sydney Post-Hardcore duo Corpus don’t do things by halves – after launching their last EP, Everything All At Once Always, in an abandoned house, and spruiking their split 7” by crashing the Warped Tour’s east coast run they figured something a little out of the ordinary was required for the follow up. That’s how they found themselves in Tokyo in June at Bazooka Studios, Takadanobaba with Sydney producer Clayton Segelov (The Brain Studios). True to their enigmatic approach, Corpus chose to make the most of Clayton and their surroundings by recording in unorthodox spaces, incorporating the ambience of Toyko’s bustling streets, shady rehearsal rooms and atmospheric forests. Pushing the boundaries even further,Corpus chose to enlist the talent of Japanese noise artist, Kenji Kuroda into the recording process, his chaotic sounds injecting extra turmoil into Corpus’ signature angst. The resulting record, “The Sliding Scale of Morality”, is searingly personal, self-destructive, analytical, uncertain; both chaotic and controlled.”
